It's an issue being considered by legislations during this year’s General Assembly. Joining us, are Mike O'Halloran, State Director - Maryland & Delaware at National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and Melissa Broome, Deputy Director of the Job Opportunities Task Force. Mike O'Halloran In his role as state director, Mr. O’Halloran serves as the chief lobbyist for NFIB-Maryland. He is responsible for NFIB’s mission of promoting and protecting the right of members to own, operate, and grow their business. To that end, Mr. O’Halloran lobbies the General Assembly and the Administration on small business issues including tax policy, environmental regulations, and workforce guidelines. Prior to joining NFIB, Mr. O’Halloran served as the government affairs manager for the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). There he lobbied state legislatures on issues impacting manufacturers of heating, cooling, commercial refrigeration, and water heating equipment. Mr. O’Halloran also served as chief of staff to current Budget Secretary David Brinkley when he was in the state Senate. He is a graduate of Salisbury University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
